Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. What happens when fate intervene on those plans? Commitment was never in the cards for Con, as he lived in two different worlds with two different packs. Both men are in old traditional packs, ways that was meant to old survival tactics, Will the coven even care that the hostility in the shifter world is looking to change back to the old ways? It's shameful to lay guilt on someone, just to make yourself feel like a superior.. a savior. There maybe chemistry there but shame outweighed it, shutting down his hurt after Zach hurt felt word, Con does the unthinkable by involving the humans in what was considered a pack's business. Was Con going to be burnt? Betrayal or pack, what was the odds Zach's night was going to implode around him. Living as an out cast was a fear that held Zach back from the fear of what his pack would do if or when the truth was known. Totally love Drew and the outcasts pack.
Con and Zach have incredible chemistry and a pretty amazing first meeting– they have all the potential to be more than a hookup, except that for the two of them, it won’t be that easy. They’re both wolf shifters and Zach is first in line to inherit leadership of a particularly bigoted and backward pack, one that has it out for the “outcast” wolves that Con runs with. I have to say that Con totally stole my heart here: he’s got a chip on his shoulder for sure, but also a big heart and a long, long history of doing the right thing at his own expense. Zach spends a lot of the story struggling with finding the strength to go his own way, and while he’s neither smart nor brave enough to figure out how to do that without first really hurting Con (I know that sounds harsh, and it is a bit, but also, kinda true) in the end he does develop a sense of commitment and purpose that I’m hoping will help the outcasts in stories to come. While this book ends with the relationship between Con and Zach on steady ground, which is awesome, there’s clearly more on the horizon for the outcast pack, and more than enough tension and suspense building to make me really want to know what will happen next. *I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
